Peter Sid Sidebottom (born 23 April 1951) is an Australian former politician. Sidebottom served as an Australian Labor Party member of the Australian House of Representatives, serving in Braddon’s Division of Braddon in Tasmania between 1998 and 2004 and after the federal election of 2007 until his defeat in 2013. The year 2011 was the time Sidebottom became the Secretary of Parliament for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry. He was defeated two times in the election of 2013, with an increase of 10% against Sidebottom.
On the 14th of December, 2011 Sidebottom has been appointed Parliamentary Secretary to Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry in the Second Gillard Ministry.
Sidebottom was later able to win back the seat in the 2007 federal election, beating Baker.

Sidebottom is a native of Hobart, Tasmania. His graduation from Hobart was at Tasmania’s University of Tasmania with a Bachelor of Arts (honours) and was a teacher at the senior secondary college between 1975 between 1975 and 1997. In 1998, he served as the electorate representative for Senator Nick Sherry and again worked for Senator Nick Sherry to serve as advisor from 2004 until 2007. Sidebottom was elected an elected Councillor for the Central Coast Council, serving between 1996 to 1998.
In the federal election in 1998 Sidebottom was able to defeat the incumbent Liberal member in Braddon, Chris Miles. But, Sidebottom was defeated by the Liberal candidate, Mark Baker, at the 2004 election. A lot of people attribute this to concerns about the loss of forest jobs in the context of Labor’s environmental policy, which was thought to have the potential to affect Sidebottom’s voters.
At the 2013 federal election, Sidebottom lost his seat of Braddon for the second time, suffering a 10% swing against him.
