Smith (born November 29th 1950) is an ex-state senator from in the 21st District of the Ohio Senate. Prior to that she was an elected Member of the Ohio House of Representatives. She is a Democrat.

In the summer of 2008, Senate Democrats eliminated the Minority Leader Teresa Fedor and replaced her with Ray Miller, as well as Smith as the assistant minority leader. As of the 128th General Assembly, the caucus continued to retain Smith in her position as the assistant minority leader in the midst of Capri Cafaro.

In the latter part of 2005 Smith made it clear that she was running to succeed in the position of term-limited Prentiss as a member of the Senate as well as Reps. Annie L.
