Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on October 6, 1966 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Chaudhury was born on the 6th of October, 1966 at Chatkhil thana, Noakhali, Bangladesh. The father of her, Rafiqullah Chaudhury, was a Civil Service of Pakistan (CSP) official and Secretary to Premier Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the year 1972. She was the mother to her mother Naiyar Sultana was an officer of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission and the head at Dhaka College.

Chaudhury was a practicing advocate at the Bangladesh Supreme Court and was one of the lawyers on the panel of lawyers to manage the cases brought against the Sheikh Hasina during the military-backed caretaker government between 2007 and 2008. Her main areas of expertise comprise human rights as well as gender- related issues, constitutional law and judicial reviews through the use of writs. She is an expert resource person for various institutions, including University of Dhaka, BRAC University, Dhaka International University and Bangladesh Institute of Law and International Affairs.

Chaudhury was awarded Asia Society’s Humanitarian service Award on 9 June 2010 in recognition of her role as a leader in advocating the elimination of violence against women and mainstreaming women’s empowerment and employment in Bangladesh. Chaudhury received this award from Ambassador Melanne Verveer, then US Ambassador-at-Large, Global Women Issues in a gala award ceremony at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Washington DC.

Chaudhury was elected Chairperson of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) for the next three years in the CPA elections held in the Cameroonian capital of Yaounde on 9 October 2014. She was the first Bangladeshi to hold this position, as well as any position in an international forum of this level. Bangladesh has been a member of the CPA Asia region, the biggest parliamentary forum of the world, since 1973. It competed for the post of CPA chairperson for the first time in 2014.

Chaudhury was the editor for Bangladesh Legal Decisions (BLD), Law Report Series published each month by the Bangladesh Bar Council from 2003 from 2003 to 2008. She drafted a variety of dialogue and concept papers that she collaborated with other important NGO’s, as well as Human Rights organizations on human rights concerns. Her published works include:
