His wife Jennifer Joslyn while performing in New York City in 1982 and they were married after only a brief acquaintance. The couple then relocated to Israel to stay with him. There were three children: Eliran, Ariel, and Daniel. A song of Tavori’s, Eliran, is named after his son who was born first. After divorce from Joslyn, Tavori married a 17-year-old Israeli model Aviva Azulai. With her, Tavori had two children. his son Ben El Tavori and daughter Bat-El Tavori. Tavori then divorced Azulai and then married Osnat Lorber. There were two kids, Orel and Elad, prior to divorcing. Following the divorce Tavori was divorced and then married Sylvia Ziv, a resident of Los Angeles with whom he had a long-distance romance. He then began a romantic affair with Yehudit Bauman who is believed as the child of Italian actor Marcello Mastroianni through a brief holiday relationship together with her maternal grandmother. In 1976 the collaboration with Hitman was the catalyst for Tavori’s debut album, Chipasti Shirim La’Tzet La’Olam (“I looked for songs that could be released in the world”; Hebrew: HypSHty SHyrym lTSAt Lvlm ) which included his first single, Eyn Lee Ahavah (“I do not have any feelings for you”; Hebrew: Ayn Ly Ahbh ) composed by Eliezer Rabin. Following the release of the record, Tavori was awarded first spot in the Middle Eastern Singing Festival (Hebrew the Hebrew word for “psTybl” is hzmr, ) by his hit track Shechora Ve’Nava” (“Black Beautiful and Black”). The following year, Tavori came in second place at the same event with his hit song Kinor David and, in 1979, he again won first place with the song Moshe composed for him by the singer-songwriter Avihu Medina.

In 1982, Tavori rejected an offer to participate in the contest again with the song he had written for his by Medina Haperch Be’Gani (which was a finalist when it was performed by Medina’s third option, Zohar Argov, launching his famed career) and decided to for a performance in New York City. In 1993, Tavori was a participant in his first Eurovision Song Contest with the song Chai Et Ma’She Yesh (“I Live with What I’ve Got”; Hebrew: Hy At Mh SHySH ). Also known for the hit ballad “Remember” in the 80’s (Big hit in Greece 1985-86). Then, in 2000, the singer debuted the triple album of French “Oriental Tempo” with international contributions from Turkish folk musician Ibrahim Tatlises, French entertainer Francky Perez and Israeli musician and performer Meir Banai.

In 2009, he finished second on the TV show HaAch HaGadol (VIP Big Brother).
