Sherri Howard along with three of her siblings rose to notoriety in 1979 when the four sisters joined forces to create the current National High School record in the relay of 4×440 yards for San Gorgonio High School in San Bernardino. The distance was subsequently shortened after by the NFHS however, they also was able to set the record for the 4x400m relay that was replaced.
