Shelley Preston (born 14 May 1964) is a pop singer who is best known for her time in the group known as Bucks Fizz, when she was replaced by Jay Aston in June 1985. The biggest hit she had when she was a part of the group was the 1986 song New Beginning, which reached the UK top 10 in the UK charts. She quit the band in the year 1990. From 2004 to 2009 she was a part in the band The Original Bucks Fizz, together with the former Bucks Fizz members Cheryl Baker and Mike Nolan.

In 2001, she was asked to join Cloudfish, the “chillout lounge” band Cloudfish together alongside Spandau Ballet saxophonist, Steve Norman. They co-wrote and produced their own material , and released their debut EP in July of 2006. They played to a sold-out crowd at the famous Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in Soho, London, and they’ve played in the legendary Pacha at Ibiza.

In April 2009, Preston announced that she was leaving The Original Bucks Fizz.

After the breakup of Bucks Fizz in 1991, Preston started a new professional career in the field of backing singer performing on tour and alongside Jason Donovan, INXS, Brian May, Michael Bolton, Go West, Beverley Craven, Alexander O’Neal, Luther Vandross, Donny Osmond, Blue, Westlife, Alison Moyet, Tom Jones, David Hasselhoff, Errol Brown and Belinda Carlisle (she still occasionally performs with Carlisle). In the 90s, she worked as model and appeared in a variety of commercials. She also was vocalist for Radio One as featured vocalist on their ads over a period of two years.

When Preston joined the band, Bucks Fizz’s final singles had not had the same success in the charts. However, thanks to the massive amount of media attention and excitement surrounding the “new singer’s arrival, Bucks Fizz were back on the charts and selling out their tours. “New Beginning (Mamba Seyra)” hit number 8 on the UK Charts in the Summer of 1986. The single was preceded by The album Writing on the Wall, which was released later in the year. The single was a pre-production song version “Love in a World Gone Mad” and was later recorded with Preston’s vocals on her own. The single version that was planned for release in 1987 was canceled however. The version that was released finally made it onto the reissued Writing on the Wall album in 2004.

Shelley has her son Benjamin Preston-Beers. He is the son of her father Garry Gary Beers, after an unrecorded relationship in the latter part of 1990s. Ben is now at the University of Kent.

In 2004, Preston reunited with Bucks Fizz bandmates Cheryl Baker, Mike Nolan and Bobby G for the Christmas Here & Now arena tour. Following this, Baker, Nolan and Preston decided to continue as The Original Bucks Fizz. As a three- piece they performed at various festivals, nightclubs, and toured theatres up and down the UK. In June 2008, they performed at the last G-A-Y night alongside McFly and The Feeling. In August 2008, Preston with Baker, Nolan and Aston took part in a makeover show for Living TV, which was aired in March 2009 and performed with Björn Again at the Hammersmith Apollo on 18 December 2008.
