He is a resident of Norway where he was lead singer for several bands prior to his solo debut in 2006. He is well-known throughout Norway for his appearances for Gullruten (2015) as well as The Voice (2012) where the two of them collaborated with Magne Furuholmen of a-ha. He also wrote The theme tune Saviour Unknown for Scandinavian noir series Oyevitne/Eyewitness (2014) along with other music for films and series like The Orange Girl (2009).
The mother of Shaun (Elin Bartlett , Norwegian) took care of her horses from Ovrevoll Galoppbane in Norway, in which the dad (Trevor Bartlett, British) was an experienced jockey for a couple of years. The family later relocated to Devon, England where Shaun and his brother lived for their first few years. Then his father was offered an all-time job to compete for His Her Majesty the Emir Sheik Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa. Afterwards, they moved onto the island of Bahrain in Bahrain, where Shaun along with his older brother were raised at their home in the Awali compound. In the summer of 1986, Shaun’s parents separated and Shaun relocated along with his mom to Baerum, Norway.
The following year , he went again to Larsville to make his second album, Shrink The City to a Light which was released in 2008. He performed almost every instrument on the album by himself, apart of a few additional tracks played by Pal Brekkas, who also engineered and produced the project. The tracks Silk, Secret Mission and Timetravelling were included in the soundtrack to the film adaptation of Jostein Gaarder’s book The Orange Girl in 2008 and also the singles Silk as well as Miles From The City Lights were included on NRK P3 which made Shaun Bartlett the longest listed artist of the year.

At Christmas, he received his first keyboard , and in the following years, his bedroom was packed with instruments for music and recording equipment. When he was in his teens, he found his first bandmates, and began working in Asker producing progressive rock in the basement and playing at the local club as well as an the annual festival. Between his second and third album Green Means Walk Red Means Run (2014) he supported Leonard Cohen at Bislett Stadium, travelled around the world and climbed to the top of Kilimanjaro for inspiration, and became a favourite on The Voice in Norway (2012). All three singles from the album were listed on Norway’s national radio station NRK P1 amongst local radio stations across the country. The third album’s title song Green Means Walk Red Means Run, inspired by Dr Masaru Emoto’s way of seeing everydayness from such a different angle, was listed on P4 Radio Hele Norge in 2015 and the album itself was recorded at Ocean Sound Recordings located on the shore of Giske, a beautiful island just outside Ålesund on Norway’s west coast – known for its outstanding nature with mountain peaks and weather contrasts, not to mention the island’s annual music festival Sommerfesten på Giske, where Shaun played live in 2015. His latest studio recording Saviour Unknown (lyrics written and performed by Shaun Bartlett, music written and performed by Bent Åserud and Geir Bøhren from Norwegian progressive rock band Junipher Greene) is the theme song for Scandinavian noir series Øyevitne/Eyewitness.
