Sua-Zumbado has been ranked among the Top 10 nationally in the discus for the past eight years . She also had the no. 6 ranking worldwide in 2001.

Sua-Zumbado comes to University of Hawaii at Manoa from Cal State Northridge, where she was a throwing coach for the last five seasons. From Fall 2006 to Summer 2011, Sua-Zumbado was in charge of both the CSU-Northridge Matadors men’s and women’s throwers. During her career, she coached 25 student- athletes, who qualified for the NCAA West Regionals.

She was inducted into the UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame in 2010.

SuaZumbado was a graduate of UCLA in the year 2001. She earned a master’s of sociology. She is the most successful athletes to ever compete in NCAA the history of track and field. While at UCLA Sua-Zumbado was a winner of seven NCAA championships. She also was an All-American 14 times, and participated in all four throwing events : discus, shot put, javelin and hammer. She is still ranked in UCLA’s all-time top 10 for each of these events.

The Pac-10 competition, SuaZumbado won six individual titles. She also was twice a Pac-10 female track and field athlete Award Winner. In the NCAA women’s Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships competition she took home four consecutive discus titles and became the first female within NCAA history to take home four consecutive individual titles at the same time in the same event. Other titles she won included the Outdoor Championship in the shot put in 1999 and 2000, as well as the Indoor Championship in the shot put in the year 2000.

Sua-Zumbado’s college success continued as an athlete in the professional world where she was on two US Olympic Teams in the discus (2000 Sydney, 2004 Athens) She was a four-time USATF National Champion in the discus the shot put, the shot put was a one-time USATF National Champion in the shot put, and a triple World Championships competitor.

Sua-Zumbado also served as volunteer coach at her alma mater UCLA in 2005-2006 school year.
