Seema Louise Ghiassi was born October 6, 1974, in Blackburn, Lancashire, England. The father of the girl is Iranian Muslim, and her mother is an Irish Catholic. After her birth, six weeks later her family relocated to Iran. They left the country following the Iranian Revolution in 1979 when she claims that her family’s home and spin mill were taken by the Supreme Leader Ruhollah Khomeini. They retreated to Blackburn and Blackburn was in which Ghiassi was a student at in the private Westholme School. She was head of the school.

She was elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) for South Ribble in the 2015 general election. She was the first MP to be of Iranian origin. She was elected again in the general election of 2017.

Kennedy voted for then Prime Minister Theresa May’s Brexit withdrawal agreement in early 2019. In the indicative votes on 27 March, she voted against a referendum on any withdrawal agreement, and against a no-deal Brexit.

Kennedy ran as an official candidate for the conservative party for Ashton- under-Lyne during the general election. Kennedy finished second in the race against current Labour Member of Parliament David Heyes. This is a historically secure Labour seat, which has elected an elected MP in the Labour party from 1935. Kennedy was unsuccessfully in during the election of election in 2013. Hampstead as well as the Kilburn Conservative primary and was also on the list to be considered for the Mid Worcestershire constituency. in 2014, Kennedy got elected to council for the Marshalwick South ward of St Albans City and District Council. Kennedy had been previously the party’s chairperson located in St. Albans but resigned in 2009 following an unsuccessful attempt to oust the local Member of Parliament Anne Main over her parliamentary expenses.
