Sedrak A. Sedrakyan is one of the most popular and richest Psychologist who was born on May 10, 1950 in Berkarat, Aragatsotn Province, Armenia. His birth date was the 10th of May 50th, 1950. He was born in Berkarat, Aragatsotn Province of Armenia. In 1967, he graduated from his secondary education at Alaverdi Nalbandyan. Between 1969 and 1974, he attended the Philosophy faculty sociology and Psychology of Yerevan State University (YSU). In 1979, he completed the postgraduate program at YSU. In 1981, he graduated from the Institute of Pedagogical Psychology of USSR Academy of Sciences. In 1987, he presented the thesis and got awarded PhD from the Department of Psychological Sciences.
In the years 1988-93, he was the director of from 1988 to 1993 the “Center of Psychological Service” that was run by the Gyumri, Armenian Relief Society (aimed at helping those who were affected by the earthquake that struck Spitak) In the years, on his own initiative, more than 60 psychiatrists and psychologists were brought to Armenia through the US, Canada, France, Russia, Georgia. He coordinated their work in the zone of disaster.
In 1990 he completed a training course in Family and Group Psychotherapy in California, US.
In 1995 he was granted the title of full professor. In 2002 he completed the doctorate program at YSU, defended his doctoral dissertation and received a doctoral degree in Psychological Sciences.
From 1983-1990 he was Deputy Dean of the YSU Faculty of Philosophy, Sociology and Psychology. In 1991, he created and was appointed Rector at the University of Practical Psychology and Sociology “Urartu”, at the same time , he was chairing the University Scientific Council. In 1999, he founded and led the “Association of Practical Psychologists of Armenia”.

From 1974-1975 he was the head of the editorial-publishing, later sociological researches department of scientific methodical center of Armenian Soviet Socialists Republic Ministry of Culture. In 1976-79, he was an assistant in YSU. In 1979, he was promoted as a instructor and an assistant professor.
He has been involved in diverse public functions. In 1977-84, he served as the chairman of the Armenian branch of the organization of Young Psychologists of the organization of USSR Psychologists. From 1980 to 1983, he served as the head of the union that represented the YSU Philological faculty, and was an active participant in the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Philology of YSU. In 1983, he was an Academic Council member and scientific secretary for the Faculty of philosophy, Sociology and Psychology of YSU. In the years 1978-1980, he supervised the student construction team in Armenia and later, in 1979 in Hungary. In 1984, he commanded the group of Armenian students in Tunisia.
In 1990 he was elected as a member of the Council of International Psychologists. In 1996 he was appointed as a member of the Association of French Psychoanalysts and in 1997 as a member of Psychological Association of Canada.
