New Catalyst Fund sold the business to Lulu.com on March 7 2009. On April 14, 2011, LuLu.com announced that they will shut down Poetry.com the 4th of May 2011. On May 11, 2011, Tilson re-purchased Poetry.com from Lulu.com for 10 dollars. Poetry.com was shut down in April of 2018.

It was in 1992 that Tilson and his Business Partner Jeffrey Franz, launched “The International Collectors Society” (ICS). The ICS was a mass-market organization that promoted its goods through magazines and tabloids in the supermarket instead of the specialist hobby media that is used by the majority of stamp dealers. Initially, the business was created with the aim of selling Elvis Presley memorabilia, but after the venture was unsuccessful, Franz and Tilson turned to stamps for postage. ICS was threatened for damages by The Beatles in 1996 for selling copyright-infringing postal stamps of Chad, Madagascar, Tanzania and Abkhazia.
