Satoko Fujii is one of the most popular and richest Jazz Musician who was born on October 9, 1958 in Tokyo, Japan. Fujii was born in Tokyo on the 9th of October, 1958. She began playing piano at the age of 4 She received classical lessons until the age of 20 at which point she was fascinated by jazz and improvisation. When she was in her 20s she was taught jazz with piano player Fumio Itabashi, who was based in Tokyo.

In the year 2007, the group ma-do formed itself, which consisted from Fujii, Tamura, bassist Norikatsu Koreyasu as well as drummer Akira Horikoshi. In the year 2010, Fujii co-founded Kaze which was a group that included Tamura, herself Tamura and trumpeter Christian Pruvost and drummer Peter Orins. She played accordion in recordings of the group Gato Libre, including DuDu and Kuro.

Fujii has been prolific in her recording Between 1996 and 2009, her albums numbered more than forty. In 2018, she had plans the release of an album each month.

Satoko Fujii (Teng Jing Xiang Zi , Fujii Satoko, born on 9 October, 1958) is a Japanese avant-garde jazz musician, accordionist and composer.

Fujii moved to Japan in the United States in 1985, receiving her degree at the Berklee College of Music in Boston in 1987. She returned back to her home in the US in 1993. She was awarded the degree of graduate with a degree in Jazz Performance from the New England Conservatory of Music in 1996. When she was at the Conservatory Fujii also took classes with piano Paul Bley, “which consisted largely of conversation over cappuccinos, [and] eased her toward self-expression.” It was in 1996 that their album duo, Something About Water, was released. Fujii stated that it was a significant moment in her life “I started to accept myself, little by little.” After returning back to Japan with her husband trumpeter Natsuki Tamura, who is the leader Gato Libre. Gato Libre. She is the leader of several large bands in Japan like Orchestra Tokyo. She established Orchestra New York in 1997.
