Sarsa is born the 13th of June, 1989, as Marta Markiewicz in Slupsk. She was a student at her school, the Pomeranian Academy in Slupsk, where she studied art education. Sarsa first made her debut in the world of music in 2011 when she was a participant in Season 2 of Must Be the Music. The following year, she was able to take an active part in Polish rendition of The X Factor.

After signing with Universal Music Polska, Sarsa released her first song “Naucz mnie” (Teach me) on April 30, 2015. The music video for the song was released two weeks after. The track reached number one at the top of the Polish singles chart, and was there for six consecutive weeks. Between 17 and 18 July, she was a representative of Poland during the Baltic Song Contest, performing “Naucz mnie” and “Indiana”. She was awarded the “Audience Award.

On August 14 the singer dropped her follow-up song “Indiana”. The track peaked at number one at the top of the Polish new hits chart, and at the top on the Polish singles chart. A few weeks later her debut album Zapomnij mi (Forget me) was released. The album reached the top spot at two on the Polish charts of albums. The singer was nominated for Best Polish Act at the 2015 MTV Europe Music Awards, but was beaten by Margaret. “Zapomnij mi” was released as the third single from the album on December 7, 2015.

Marta Markiewicz (born 13 June 1989) is better known by her stage name of Sarsa and Sarsa Markiewicz is a Polish artist, singer and record producer. Her first exposure to the public through her 2015 song “Naucz mnie” (Teach me) which was a top spot at the top of the Polish singles chart for six weeks consecutively and was certified as to be a diamond in the hands of Polish Society of the Phonographic Industry (ZPAV). Zapomnij mi, her debut album Zapomnij mi was released on the 28th of August in 2015.
