Sarah Kataike Biography

Sarah Kataike is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on January 21, 1961 in Budaka town, Budaka District, Uganda. She was born in the Budaka District on 21 January 1961. She has a vast education in the field of agriculture. In the year 1980 at the age 19 years old, she received her degree at Bukalasa Agriculture College, with a Certificate of Agriculture. After further education, Bukalasa awarded her the Diploma in Agriculture in 1985. In 1989 she graduated from a school located in Cameroon with a Certificate of rural Integrated Development.

She joined politics by running in the Budaka District Women’s Constituency parliamentary seat. She was on behalf for the National Resistance Movement (NRM) political party, and won. Then she became a member of Uganda within the Pan African Parliament (PAP) which is located within South Africa. Within the PAP she was appointed Chairperson for the Women’s Caucus and hence became an active participant in the Cafe which is the governing body for the Pan African Parliament. She is currently the incumbent. In a cabinet reshuffle of the 15th of August in 2012, she was named State Health Minister (General Duties) and henceforth she was forced to quit the Pan African Parliament as she became an Executive in order to serve the country directly. In the cabinet reshuffle on the 1st of March, 2015 she was able to keep her current portfolio.

She was accepted into Makerere University, Uganda’s oldest public institution for studying agriculture. She completed her studies in 1999 and earned an undergraduate degree, a Bachelor of Science on Agriculture. Her studies continued at Makerere and, in 2003, was granted the degree from Master of Science Agriculture Education and Extension. In 2010, she was awarded her Postgraduate Diploma in Organisational Development and Management in the Uganda Management Institute. Prior to that, from 15 August 2012 until 25 July 2013, she served as the State Minister of Health for General Duties. She replaced Richard Nduhura, who was appointed Uganda’s Ambassador to the United Nations. She is also the elected Member of Parliament for Budaka District Women’s Constituency on the National Resistance Movement (NRM) political party ticket.
