Cruz was born the 1st of Februar 1976, on the 1st of February 1976 in Ibague, Colombia, the Colombian capital of music. His mother was his primary caregiver, two grandmothers, and 10 aunts. After 17 years living in his hometown , and having spent his teenage years in between school in military and academics, Santiago moved to the Colombian capital city to study “Finance and International Relations.” But, Cruz always knew that the only thing he could do was dedicate his life to music since music was among his biggest interests.

As of 2009 Cruz dropped his third studio album called Cruce de caminos under the label Sony Music. Cruz described the songs on the album as being a reflection of his soul.

After several months of work, a long trip to Spain and many compositions, Cruz returned with his fifth studio album, Equilibrio, in 2014, which went on sale in digital and physical formats on September 23 in Colombia and several countries in Latin America (pre-sales on Itunes from September 9). The physical album contains 13 songs and a Bonus track recorded live with piano and voice in an exclusive jazz venue in Valencia. Electric guitars play a greater role in this album, along with an energy that leads us towards a more British sound, according to Nacho Mañó, the person who produced this album. The name of this album, according to Cruz, comes from the label, “Equilibrio Producciones’”, which he created when he was an independent artist.

It was in 2006 that Cruz issued his sophomore album Sentidos with the label “Equilibrio Producciones”. The album was created by music director Julian Avila and concert producer Fredy Ardila.
