Sanna Mirella Marin (Finnish pronunciation”‘san”mirel”mari’n” ) (born on the 16th of November in 1985) is a Finnish politician who has been the Premier Minister of Finland from 10 December 2019. As a member of the Social Democratic Party, she has been a part of the Parliament of Finland since 2015 and was the minister for Transport and Communications between 6 June 2019 to 10 Dec. 2019. Following Antti Rinne’s resignation in following the 2019 postal strike, she was elected the first Prime Minister on the 8th of December 2019. At 34 years old, Marin remains the 2nd-youngest sitting state leader as well as the youngest female state leader, and Finland’s youngest premier.

Marin graduated from Pirkkala High School in 2004 at the age of 19 years old. Marin was a member of in the Social Democratic Youth in 2006 and served as the group’s First Vice-President from the year 2010 until 2012. She worked in a bakery as well as a cashier during her studies at Tampere University, where she earned her master’s and bachelor’s degrees from Administration Science from Tampere’s University of Tampere.

In December 2019, Marin was nominated by the Social Democratic Party to succeed Antti Rinne as the Prime Minister of Finland, but Rinne will formally remain party leader until June 2020. In a narrow vote, Marin prevailed over Antti Lindtman.
