Sangre Chicana is one of the most popular and richest Amateur Wrestler who was born on November 30, 1951 in Coahuila, Mexico. Sangre Chicana (Spanish meaning “Chicano Blood”) is the ring name for Mexican professional wrestler, retired Andres Duran Reyes (born November 30 1951). Reyes was a professional wrestler when he made his debut in 1973 wearing the red mask that had gold stripes, and with the nickname Lemus. The following year, Reyes changed his name and changed it to Sangre Chicana but kept the mask sporting the gold stripe. He gained fame due to a fight against El Cobarde and Fishman that caused an Lucha de Apuesta, mask against. mask contest in which Reyes had to forfeit his mask.
The UWA Folded Chicana was a full-time employee at Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL Formerly EMLL) where he worked along with Bestia Salvaje and Emilio Charles, Jr. for a CMLL World Trios Championship reign. In the mid-90s Sangre Chicana left CMLL and started working for AAA in which he beat Mascara Sagrada II in the final round to win the Mexican National Light Heavyweight Championship. His reign as the champion was 715 days from June 16, 1998 to April 30,, when the belt was taken away by Latin Lover. On August 20, 2004, Chicana won the AAA Americas Heavyweight Championship the title that was which he held until the time Chicana’s departure from AAA. While he’s still in the running for the title, the title is technically not in use since Chicana was removed from the organization. In recent years, Sangre Chicana has worked only certain shows at the Mexican independent circuit, usually along and the son of his Sangre Chicana, Jr.
Reyes is among the few wrestlers who be employed by the two organizations: Empresa Mexicana de Lucha Libre (EMLL) (now also known as Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL)) as well as Francisco Flores’ promotion Toreo Cuatro Caminos Independents. In the course of time, that chicana “family” grew, as “Lemus I” debuted in the 1980s with Reyes first mask, which was followed with “Lemus II” in the 1990s. The year 2000 was the time Reyes his children “Lemus Jr.” and “Sangre Chicana Jr.” made their debuts in professional wrestling, followed by Sangre Imperial, Hijo de Sangre Chicana and daughter Lady Chicana, Lluvia and La Hiedra

Andres Reyes was a professional debut in the month of July, 1973 in the Enmascarado (masked) persona Lemus. Just a few months after his debut, he was forced to remove his mask after the result of the Lucha de Apuesta (bet match) to El Canek and had to remove his mask as per Lucha Libre customs. Shortly after the loss of his mask Reyes began his career as an enmascarado, Sangre Chicana, Chicana wore the same mask that when he wrestled as Lemus and this was possible because he started wrestling outside of his home state, and at the time, information wasn’t as widespread.
After wrestling with the mask for several years He finally gained some fame after he began a scuffle between Fishman as well as El Cobarde. This squabble led to an additional Lucha de Apuesta, this was a match between all three of them which Fishman was victorious, removing the mask of Sangre Chicana. Losing this mask marked the initial step toward Sangre Chicana becoming a headline wrestler after he defeated Jose Luis Mendieta on November 19th, 1977, to take home the Mexican National Middleweight Championship, just two months after being removed from the mask. He left the championship in 1979, however the reason behind his departure isn’t clear. He was the holder of his NWA World Middleweight Championship twice between 1980 and 1981, defeating Cachorro Mendoza, and Tony Salazar to win the title, but lost to Ringo Mendoza on April 3, 1981. In 1982, he was briefly the host of an interim NWA International Junior Heavyweight Championship for 19 days. In 1982, Chicana moved to the Universal Wrestling Association (UWA) where he rekindled his fight with Fishman and traded his UWA World Light Heavyweight Championship for four times over 16 months. When he was able to return back to Empresa Mexicana de Lucha Libre the two of them teamed up Cien Caras, defeating Ringo and Cachorro Mendoza in the fight for the Mexican National Tag Team Championship the title they held for a while until Rayo de Jalisco as well as Tony Benetto won it from them. Between 1989 and 1990, Sangre Chicana held the UWA promoted WWF Light Heavyweight Championship on two occasions.
