Marvi performs sufi shows all over the globe. She is regarded as one of the three top performers of the Sufi Ghazal, folk and ghazal genres. The other two being Abida Parveen as well as Tina Sani. Her debut came as a solo performer on Indian stage at the 2010 Jahan-e-Khusrau which is an annual Sufi music festival organized in the name of the famous filmmaker Muzaffar Ali from the film of”Umrao Jaan fame. In February of 2011 she performed along with Indian performer Rekha Bhardwaj at the Times of India’s Aman ki Asha event at Chowmahalla Palace, Hyderabad, India.
Sanam Marvi debuted, in 2009, on ‘Virsa Legacy’, a show about music on the Pakistan Television Corporation channel hosted by Yousuf Salahuddin. She refers to him as her a baba’ (a father figure to her) to give her a major breakthrough within the Pakistani entertainment business. She later performed on Coke Studio, Pakistan, which is a Pakistani television show with concerts live.

Sanam Marvi’s early years were filled with struggles and poverty. Marvi began her music education at the age 7. She comes born into an Sindhi family. Her father , Faqeer Khan Muhammad was also a Sindhi folk musician/harmonium player. He provided her with classical music instruction for two years. Later she began learning the art of classical singing and raags with Ustad Fatah Ali Khan Sindh within the Gwalior traditional gharana. She claims that she also gained a lot of knowledge of folk singing from Abida Parveen. She performed at Rafi Peer Theatre in the years 2004 and 2005.
Sanam Marvi is married to Hamid Ali Khan. The couple has three kids. Their first spouse, Aftab Ahmed Pharero, also known as Aftab Ahmed Kalhoro was murdered in Karachi in 2009. They were got married in 2006, but been separated during the two-year period prior his death. Marvi was the second wife of Aftab.
Marvi made her live concert singing debut in 2012 with concerts held at London, Paris, New York, singing alongside Hadiqa Kiyani and Ali Zafar.
