Samuel Serrano (born November 17 1952) is a Puerto Rican former professional boxer who fought from 1969 until 1984. He made a two-fight return from 1996 to 1997. He was a twice World champion at super featherweight holding the WBA title two times between 1976 and 1983.
He filmed a commercial on television in 1982 for Budweiser located in Puerto Rico in 1982.
Serrano retired from the ring for one year and came back in 1984, winning by first round knockout. Then, he retired again.

Serrano became a travel champion who defended his title in countries such as Venezuela, Ecuador, South Africa, Japan (twice) and in the end, Puerto Rico. One of his fights in a fight with Julio Diablito Valdez, resulted in a brawl after the fight after Serrano was declared the winner after a unanimous vote and was greeted by his opponent but was greeted by a punch to the face. Serrano was furious and the police had to intervene. Both fighters were led to their respective dressing rooms by police. However, disaster struck Serrano during the fight in Detroit on August 2 , 1980. After having the upper hand on all scorecards Serrano was struck by an Yasutsune Uehara right-hand to the chin during round six. He lost his title via knockout against the Japanese. Following that defeat the fighter set his sights at reclaiming his crown from Japanese world champion. And that was the reason why on April 9th, 1981, they fought again the next time on the same card in Wakayama, Japan. Serrano had a somewhat more reserved approach to this match and didn’t attempt to fight for the knockout after the two had built up a lead in points. Even the fact that Uehara was in his native country the judges all agreed and awarded Serrano the extra rounds Uehara and Serrano was awarded the title of world champion in a unanimous 15-round decision.

Serrano who was the proprietor of the long arms started his career on October 29th, 1969. He won an eight-round victory against Ramon Laureano. He established a fan base within Puerto Rico, campaigning there throughout his first 23 fights which included winning and losing his Puerto Rican Featherweight title v.s Francisco Villegas. In the 24th round He travelled into Panama City, where he was able to meet the his future champion and world Featherweight world champion Ernesto Marcel, who beat him by scoring points in just 10 rounds. It was his last defeat for a while.
Then he continued his winning manner, with an 11-round decision victory over the tough veteran Cocoa Perez. He also won against his former title rival Diego Alcala, also by decision in 10 rounds. Serrano was then on a trip in the year 1976 for Honolulu, Hawaii, to take on the champion Lineal as well as WBA world junior. Champion of lightweight, the Filipino Ben Villaflor. According to most accounts of the writers, Serrano beat Villaflor, however, he was forced to return to his home country only after the 15th round draw (tie).
Serrano made two defenses and then went to Chile to give challenger Benedicto Villablanca a chance at the title on June 3, 1982. It proved to be a highly controversial fight. After 5 rounds, Serrano was ahead on the scorecards. However, a cut appeared over his eye during the 6th, and the referee ruled it to be from a punch. Serrano kept fighting, but during the 11th round, the cut was so deep, the fight had to be stopped by the doctor and Serrano had to be taken to a Santiago hospital. Since the referee ruled the cut came from a punch, initially the fight and the world title were given to Villablanca.
