Sambo Dasuki is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on December 2, 1954 in Wusasa, Kaduna State, Nigeria. Dasuki was born the 2nd of December 1954 in Wusasa, Zaria, Kaduna State in the household that belonged to Ibrahim Dasuki, the 18th Sultan of Sokoto and the first son of his father. Dasuki was a student at Kaduna Capital School to complete his primary education, and then Government College, Kaduna, to complete his secondary education.

Then, Dasuki was among four majors (Abubakar Dangiwa, Lawan Gwadabe as well as Abdulmumini Aminu) who arrested the Nigerian president Muhammadu Buhari in the 1985 palace coup that was led by General Ibrahim Babangida. Sambo Dasuki has always denied that he was arrested by Buhari. After Buhari’s coup Dasuki has been appointed Aide-de-camp (ADC) for the General Ibrahim Babangida.

In 1993, following the rise to power of General Sani Abacha, Dasuki was retired from the army. He was accused of masterminding a coup allegedly led by Lawan Gwadabe. Abacha regime also deposed Dasuki’s father as Sultan of Sokoto, replacing him with Muhammadu Maccido.

In 2001, Dasuki returned to Nigeria and was appointed as the managing director of Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Company Limited (NSPMC). He resigned in protest against controversial privatization of NSPMC by former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Sambo Dasuki (then a major) and military assistant to General Mohammed Inuwa Wushishi participated in the 1983 Nigerian coup d’etat, which brought in Major General Muhammadu Buhari as Nigeria’s Head of State.
