Kendricks was a jumper to the heights of Oxford High School from Oxford, Mississippi leading his team to the 2009 MHSAA 5A State Championship. He jumped 17 feet 0 inches (5.18 meters) to break the record for the state. He was the winner of the state meet outdoor in both 2010 and in 2011, and indoors in the year 2011. He also earned letters in soccer and cross-country. The year 2011, his name was mentioned, he was awarded the Gatorade boys sportsman of the year in Mississippi.
