Sam Hoyt is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on January 9, 1962 in Buffalo, New York, United States. William Ballard “Sam” Hoyt III (born on the 9th of January 1962) is an American politician from New York. As a Democrat, Hoyt is an economic development specialist and was an elected part of the New York State Assembly from 1992 until 2011. Hoyt represented in the district of the 144th Assembly district, which includes the entirety of Buffalo, New York, as well as all the territory of Grand Island, New York from 1992 until 2011. Hoyt was elected first to succeed his father William Hoyt. He resigned in 2011 following an incident of sexual harassment and was also the subject of an ethics inquiry in 2008 over the two-year relationship he had with an assembly intern who was 23 years old.

In his time, Hoyt was a strong patron of his former school, Buffalo State College, and Muriel Howard. Howard, who was the college’s president between 1996 and the year 2009. In the years that Howard assumed the position as the president of the College, Hoyt stated that she was the perfect choice. When Howard announced that she was resigning of the College, Hoyt stated that it would be difficult for her to replace and that she would be deeply missed.

Hoyt introduced legislation that went into effect in 1998 that guaranteed a tax-free week for college students in New York State for the purchase of their college textbooks.

In 2000, Hoyt was involved in an attempted political coup, led by Former Majority Leader Michael Bragman, of Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, in order to oust him from his position. Following the coup, it was stated that Hoyt was unable to enter the circle of inner leadership in the Assembly, though he salvaged his political access to Silver when it was clear that the coup would be unsuccessful.

Hoyt was raised on the west side of Buffalo and attended the area schools. He graduated in 1992 from The Park School of Buffalo in 1992, and obtaining the Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Buffalo State College in 1992. He also went to Ohio Wesleyan University.

Hoyt was elected first in a special election held in 1992 after the passing of his father William B. Hoyt who served in the position prior to his election. From 1992 until 2010, Hoyt won every election for his Assembly seat, with voter turnout ranging from 51% and 79% for his side.
