When he reached the age of six older, the parents separated in two and his mother went back to her home country of Ghana with Gyimah as well as his younger sister and brother while his father was at home in the UK. In the ten years following Gyimah was a student at the Achimota School situated in Accra, Ghana. Gyimah was back in the UK to study GCSEs or A-levels Freman College, a state school located in Buntingford, Hertfordshire. He went on to Somerville College at the University of Oxford in Oxford, where he studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics. He also was elected to the office of President of the Oxford Union in 1997.
The year 2011, Gyimah wrote his report in conjunction with the think tank NESTA, “Beyond the Banks: the case for a British Industry and Enterprise Bond” in support of alternatives to banks for businesses looking for financing. Gyimah was the very first parliamentarian to advocate for the use of credit- easing as a method of speeding up Britain’s economic recovery.
Gyimah was appointed as Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS) to the Prime Minister at the 2012 reshuffle, then became a Government Whip in October 2013, supporting the Prime Minister during the Cameron-Clegg coalition.
On 20 November 2015, Gyimah contributed to the filibustering of the opposition-proposed Compulsory Emergency First Aid Education (State-Funded Secondary Schools) Bill to make the teaching of first aid in secondary schools compulsory. He spoke until the end of the debate, despite requests from the deputy speaker. Gyimah was quoted as being concerned to not overload the National Curriculum.
After his name was added to the Conservatives A-List, he was chosen as the potential candidate for parliamentary seat East Surrey and elected at the general election in 2010 and delivered his first speech on July 29th, 2010. Gyimah joined the International Development Select Committee, and expressed his desire to harness the private sector to achieve the goals of international development. He also started to take part in the debates about employment and education, as well as participating in local campaigns to preserve the green belt of Surrey.

Samuel Phillip Gyimah ( /”dZ i: m” A born on 10 August 1976) is a British politician who was MP (MP) of East Surrey from 2010 to the year 2019. The first time he was chosen by an Conservative, Gyimah rebelled against the government’s decision to stop the no-deal Brexit, and was able to have the Conservative whip taken away in September of this year. He later became a member of with the Liberal Democrats and stood unsuccessfully for the party in Kensington during the general election.
After the day of graduation Gyimah was employed by Goldman Sachs as an investment banker. departing the firm in 2003 to start Clearstone Training and Recruitment Limited along with her fellow potential Conservative Member of Parliament Chris Philp. Gyimah was named of the CBI’s Entrepreneur of the Future 2005. Clearstone and its affiliates went into administration in 2007. In September 2005, Gyimah wrote a report for the Bow Group, a Conservative think tank, titled To the Future: The prospects for the Conservative Party. He was elected as the chairman of the Bow Group from 2006 to 2007. Gyimah did not run for office in the Kilburn Ward in 2006. He was not able to win in the Camden Council election. Then, in December of 2009 Gyimah was third at the Gosport primary for the position of Peter Viggers, losing to Caroline Dinenage.
Gyimah married Nicky Black in 2012, with whom he has a son and a daughter. They knew each other at Oxford where she was also an Oxford Union president, and reconnected after university. She is a Hong Kong-raised New Zealander. Black previously worked for mining company De Beers, and is the director for social and economic development at the International Council on Mining and Metals.

He said the UK’s weakness in the negotiations over the Galileo satellite navigation project was the final straw and he intended to vote against May’s deal in the House of Commons on 11 December 2018, and suggested the public should have the right to a final say on the withdrawal agreement in another referendum with the Article 50 process extended. Gyimah resigned as a minister because he wants to be free to endorse a second referendum on Brexit. In early 2019, he co-founded the group Right to Vote.
