Sam Chegini (Persian: sm chgyny ) is an award-winning Iranian artist who was born in Tehran in 1992 to an art-loving family. Sam Chegini is director for two animated music video, Linde Nijland’s Traveller and Sir Lenny Henry’s “The Cops Don’t Know”.

In 2017 Sam was a part of the Verbatim Theater Group for the production MANUS directed by Nazanin Sahamizadeh. As a Video Artist as well as Video Mapper in 2017 and International matters, Sam worked with the team on three International festival, which included that of 36th Fajr International Theater Festival (Tehran, Iran), two shows at the National Theatre in Bangladesh, (Chittagong and Dhaka) and the 10th International Theatre Festival of Kerala (Thrissur, Kerala, India). [1]

in 2018 Sam was invited to the Talent Campus of the 36th International Fajr Film Festival, Darolfonoon and has had masterclasses with likes of Oliver Stone, Jörn Donner, Thomas Mauch, Roberto Perpignani, Karen Shakhnazarov, Reza Kianian, Mehran Kashani, Ebrahim Hatamikia, Fatemeh Motamed-Arya, Naghmeh Samini, Mehrdad Oskouei, etc.[3][4]

Chegini began working with the community TV by working as a puppeteer around when he was 14 years old. He then pursued his love for animation and film until around the age 16. In 2009, Sam was a member of VOP (Voice of Peace) which was a group which was working on the reconstruction of the ancient Persian music instruments which was financed by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme and IAARA. Sam created the film of artistic merit The Lyre of Mesopotamia that was recognized as “best video art” at the first Persbookart Contest on Facebook in 2010. In 2011, Dutch artist/musician Linde Nijland approached for him to create music video for her track “Traveller”, after having watched a video he had created for the song “A Spaceman Came Travelling” from Chris de Burgh. Traveller is an official choice of numerous famous music video and film festivals across the world, and has been shown in various countries. It was in 2013 that Sam was awarded the Royal Reel Award from the Canada International Film Festival for the music video. It was also voted as no. one on the Frisian charts of The Klipkar+TV show.

in the year 2016 Sam created an animation music video to promote the famed British actor, comedian and musician Sir Lenny Henry, titled “The Cops Don’t Know” that was shown by Classic Rock Magazine on April 20th on the 20th of April, 2016. Henry acknowledged the video’s merits in the interview he did with Classic Rock Magazine saying the video is an “labour of love” style and “Sam is clearly gifted.”

In August 2018, Sam created and hosted an online series of interviews titled “SamChats” on YouTube and Aparat, interviewing the most successful international artists worldwide, designated for the Persian speaking audience for the first time. In the first 2 episodes, Neil Taylor, Lena Katina and Alex Jolig have appeared on the show.[5]
