Sam Byibesho Biography

Sam Byibesho is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on April 25, 1964 in Kisoro, Kisoro District, Uganda. Byibesho was born in Kisoro, Kigezi sub-region, on the 25th of April, 1964 within an Anglican family from the Bafumbira. He was the first baby of late reverend Obed Byibesho, a clergyman and Aidah Byibesho who was a farmer. He was blessed with two sisters and two brothers.

Professionally, Byibesho started his career as an elementary school Grade III instructor in Seseme Primary School, between 1991 until 1996. He was promoted to the post of headmaster of the primary school from 1997 to Mubuga Primary School. He remained as such until 2002, when he resigned in accordance with the law, to become LC III Chairperson for Kisoro Town Council.

Byibesho is married to Irene Ntakirutimana Byibesho, a primary school teacher, and he has two children. He is also the proprietor of Igiraneza Restaurant. He’s served on several school boards and was chairperson of finance on the boards of Seseme Girls Secondary School (2002 to 2012), Kisoro PTC (2004 to 2015), Kisoro Technical Institute (2004 to 2010), Kisoro Vision High School (2008 to date) and he was a member of the School Management Committee (SMC) for Seseme Primary School from 2008 to 2015. He is also the chairperson of Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS) Kisoro.

Byibesho formerly served as the mayor of Kisoro Town Council from 2002 up until 2016 when he became a legislator. He is the former head teacher of Mubuga Primary School and previously worked as a Grade III teacher from 1991 to 1996. He is also the NRM chairperson for his constituency, Kisoro Municipality.

Politically, he began his career as RC I chairperson for Karumena Village from 1988 until 1992. Then, he was appointed RC II chairperson for Kisoro Central Parish and also served as a councilor of Kisoro Town Council between 1992 until 1996. In 1997, after Resistance Councils (RCs) were changed to Local Councils (LCs), He continued to be the LC II chairperson for North Ward Parish Kisoro Town Council Sub-county, until 2002 when he was elected his LC III Chairman, a post that he held for 14 consecutive years.

Sam Byibesho (born 25 April 1964) is an Ugandan educator politician, public administrator and teacher. Sam Byibesho is an elected member of the parliament for Kisoro Municipality and a representative for the National Resistance Movement (NRM) the main political party in Uganda. He is an active participant of the Local Government Accounts Committee, the Committee on Public Service and Local Government and members of the NRM Parliamentary Caucus in the 10th Parliament of Uganda.

He received his first education in Seseme Elementary School. There, there was a prefect for health and was awarded a PLE credential in 1978. Then he attended St. Paul’s Senior Secondary School Mutorere and City High School Kampala for his O-level education. He was awarded an UCE qualification in 1984. He was the assistant house captain of the Muhabura House in St. Paul’s Senior Secondary School Mutorere.

In 1991, he acquired a Grade 3 Certificate from Kisoro Primary Teachers’ College (PTC), where he was also a games captain before attending Kyambogo University, where he was an assistant minister of education and attained a Diploma in Education in the year 2004. Byibesho further advanced to Uganda Martyrs University Nkozi where he was a coordinator for Kisoro Students Association and graduated with a Bachelor of Education in 2009.
