From July 2003 onwards, Sawadogo was the official ambassador for Burkina Faso to Senegal, Mauritania, Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau, and the Gambia. Since March 6, 2014, she also serves as ambassador for South Africa.

In 2001, she was selected as an African Commission on Human Rights and the People’s rights, In November of 2003, she was elected as its president. She was in office until November 2007.
