Sal Pace (born December 14 1976) is an former American legislator who was an elected state representative for Colorado, the U.S. state of Colorado and was elevated to the post of House Democratic leader. He also served for six years as the County Commissioner of Pueblo County, Colorado. Pace is acknowledged as the author of some of the world’s first cannabis regulations when he was as a member of the State House; and he is recognized as a as a national cannabis reform activist and consultant. In Pueblo Pace transformed the town in to”Napa Valley of Cannabis “Napa Valley of Cannabis” of Colorado. Pace has opted to not run for re-election before the end of his term in January of 2019.
Pace ran for Colorado’s 46th House District. Pace was elected in the Pueblo County Assembly, keeping his sole opponent from the ballot, and receiving over 70 percent of the votes of delegate. Pace was unopposed during the august Democratic primary, nor the general election of November 2008.
He is a member of the Democratic Party. Elected to the Colorado House of Representatives in 2008, Pace represented House District 46, which encompasses western Pueblo, Colorado from 2008 to 2012. During his time at the statehouse, Pace was elected as the Colorado House minority leader. In 2012, he ran against incumbent congressman Republican Scott Tipton in Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District, although Tipton was ultimately re-elected.
For the 2009 legislative session, Pace served on the House Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee, the House Appropriations Committee, and the House Judiciary Committee.
After having been elected to legislative session in the month of November, Pace was elected Assistant Majority Caucus Chair in the state by house Democrats.

Pace is a professor of American politics for the last two years at Pueblo Community College and at CSU-Pueblo. Since marijuana became legal in 2012, Pueblo County has licensed 143 legal marijuana cultivations, and another 55 are pending.
