Sal Butera is one of the most popular and richest Baseball Player who was born on September 25, 1952 in Richmond Hill, New York, United States. Salvatore Philip Butera (born September 25 1952) is an American former professional baseball catcher. He was an official scout of the major leagues with the Toronto Blue Jays of Major League Baseball in the 2015 season.

Butera played the 1984 season in his Montreal Expos triple A American Association affiliate The Indianapolis Indians, and appeared in three games for the Expos after an September call-up. After the 1985 season Butera was traded with the Cincinnati Reds with Bill Gullickson in exchange for Dann Bilardello Andy McGaffigan, John Stuper and Jay Tibbs. The Reds released him by Cincinnati in the 1987 season, but was quickly re-signed by his former team which was The Minnesota Twins. Butera was a part of the Twins team that beat in the World Series against the St. Louis Cardinals in the 1987 World Series. He was let go, re-signed and then released by the Twins during the offseason between 1987 and 1988 and was then hired by the Toronto Blue Jays, where He played in another 23 games.

Butera was the video replay and catching coach for the Toronto Blue Jays during the 2014 season. He became a major league scout for the 2015 season.

Butera continued to play for his Twins in the role of Butch Wynegar’s backup until the start of Spring Training 1983, when he was traded with The Detroit Tigers. The injuries restricted Butera to just four games for the Tigers but Butera was released at the close of the season.
