Saifuddin Abdullah is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on January 27, 1961 in Mentakab, Malaysia. Dato Saifuddin bin Abdullah (Jawi: syf ldyn”bdllh” born 27 January , 1961) is a Malaysian politician and Minister of Communications and Multimedia and the Member of the Parliament of Indera Mahkota. Also, he’s a part of the government Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition. In the past, he served as the MP for Malaysia in Temerloh. Temerloh district in Pahang between 2008 and 2013, representing the United Malay National Organisation (UMNO) which was the largest political party of the coalition led by Barisan Nasional (BN).

Saifuddin has published four books about Malaysian political system. After leaving Parliament , he was accepted into at the University of Malaya as a research fellow. In 2014, he quit his position out of protest. the Malaysian Education Ministry forced a well-respected professor at the university to quit according to reports, due to research findings that criticize the government.

In February 2020, Saifuddin quit PKR along with deputy president Azmin Ali and 9 other MP’s to form an independent parliamentary block.

Saifuddin’s time as a minister was cut short due to the election of 2013, when Saifuddin lost his seat in parliament to the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS) candidate with 1,070 votes.

Saifuddin attended Sekolah Kebangsaan Abu Bakar Mentakab (1968-73), Malay College Kuala Kangsar – MCKK (1974-80) He graduated with BA Honors from University of Malaya (1984) and a Diploma in Translation from the Malaysian Translator Association / Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (1985) and then an Executive Program in Harvard Business School (1995).

Saifuddin is a member of the Parliament during the election of 2008 He was then appointed as deputy minister, being mentioned as a possible ministerial candidate. He was previously secretary-general for the Malaysian Youth Council. Following the election, Saifuddin was appointed an assistant minister. He also was also the Deputy Minister for Higher Education during Najib Razak’s initial term as the Prime Minister. While in his ministerial time, Saifuddin was one of the most moderate and liberal progressive political figures in the administration of Najib. He criticized his administration’s conduct during the Bersih 2.0 protest in 2011 during which more than 1,600 protesters were detained in the street of Kuala Lumpur. In the early months of 2013, he was a voice for one student who was slammed by a government-linked panellist during an event for students at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM).

In 2015, Saifuddin quit UMNO and joined the People’s Justice Party (PKR) over disagreements with the government’s handling of the 1Malaysia Development Berhad scandal.
