She qualified for the 2008 Women’s World Chess Championship in Nalchik (Russia) with her 2007 European Women’s Championship result. In controversy ended the final armageddon tiebreak match between Foisor and Monika Socko. Foisor needed only a draw to progress to the next round. Each player had a king or a knight. Foisor was running out of time so the arbiter decided that the game was a draw. Socko appealed to the arbiter, noting that it doesn’t matter if checkmate is possible but whether it can. Socko won the appeal, and advanced to round 2, eliminating Foisor.
In 2008, Foisor transferred chess federations to represent the United States. Since 2010, she has represented the US in the Women’s Chess Olympiad and the Women’s World Team Chess Championship. On April 9, 2017, Foisor won the U.S. Women’s Chess Championship in St. Louis, Missouri.
Foisor was a first-place finisher in 2007, with Cristina Adela Foisor. This was at the Villard-de-Lans Open, France. She was first at the Liege Master tournament in Boncelles in Belgium in 2008.

Foisor was awarded three medals at European Youth Chess Championships. One silver for girls U16 in 2004, and two bronzes for girls U14 and U18 in 2007. In 2004, and 2007, she represented Romania at the European Girls U18 Team Chess Championship, winning three medals: one individual medal (2004), and one team medal (2007).
Foisor received the titles Woman International Master in 2005 and Woman Grandmaster in 2007. Foisor achieved the WGM title at Acropolis’ women’s tournament, Athens (2006) and European Individual Women’s Chess Championship, Dresden (2007).
Both her parents, International Masters Cristina Adela Foișor and Ovidiu-Doru Foisor, were multiple Romanian chess championship medalists. Her younger sister, Mihaela-Veronica, is a chess player with the title of Woman International Master.
