She was the first and only woman inducted into the American Indian Athletic Hall of Fame in 1996.
Becenti played professional basketball in Sweden in 1994. She briefly played in Turkey and Greece. She signed as a free agent with the Phoenix Mercury of the WNBA in 1997 and participated in their inaugural season. She was drafted in 1998 by the Chicago Condors of the American Basketball League.

Becenti was a student at Window Rock High School, Fort Defiance, Arizona and, in 1989, Scottsdale Community College, Phoenix. In 1990-91 she was the nation’s best junior college point guard and in 1991, she was a two-time NJCAA All-American.
Becenti was an All-Pac 10 First Team selection during both seasons at Arizona State University. She was also a two-time Honorable Mention All-America honoree. Becenti also represented the USA at the 1993 World University Games, Buffalo, New York. Her team won the bronze medal.
