Ryan Nelson Shealy, born August 29, 1979, is an American former professional baseball pitcher who played six seasons as a first baseman in Major League Baseball. Shealy was a college baseball player at the University of Florida. He then played professionally for the Colorado Rockies and Kansas City Royals.
Shealy spent 2006 in Triple-A before the All-Star Game. He batting.284 with 15 runs and 55 RBIs in 58 games. He was traded to the Kansas City Royals on July 31, 2006 for Jeremy Affeldt, and Denny Bautista. After making a huge impact, he hit.280 with seven homers and 36 RBI in 51 games before being sidelined by illness.
On June 17, 2010, he signed a minor league deal with the Boston Red Sox. He was called up on July 7, due to an injury to Kevin Youkilis. He was outrighted to the Triple-A Pawtucket Red Sox two weeks later, after going hitless in seven at-bats. On August 14, 2010, the Boston Red Sox released Shealy.
He played in 2011 in the Toronto Blue Jays organization with the Triple-A Las Vegas 51s. In 62 games, he hit .272 with 11 home runs and 56 RBI.
Shealy made his major-league debut on June 14, 2005. He had a remarkable.330 batting average (29-for-91) and two home runs, 16 RBI and no errors in 36 games. Shealy was the Rockies’ primary second baseman behind five-time All Star Todd Helton. He was also designated hitter in interleague games in 2005. Shealy was also a member of the Triple-A Colorado Springs Sky Sox in 2005.

Shealy was awarded an athletic scholarship to the University of Florida in Gainesville. He played for Coach Andy Lopez and Coach Pat McMahon’s Florida Gators baseball team from 1998 to 2002. In 2002, he graduated from Florida with an advertising bachelor’s degree.
