Leech began racing downhill and cross-country mountain bikes at the age of 13. Leech joined Team ORB in 1996. This team was later renamed The Norco Factory Team. At 16 years old, he began coaching at The West Coast School of Mountain Biking. Riley Nacke, his childhood friend, introduced him to the sport. He attended Seaquam Secondary school in North Delta, and missed his high-school graduation to compete in a race.
Leech was a bicyclist for Cirque du Soleil’s La Nouba in Orlando Florida from the late 90s to early 2000s. He had three stints with Cirque du Soleil; three of his short contracts lasted 6 months.
Leech launched an online course called ‘The 30 Day Wheelie Challenge’ in April 2015 after which he created a paid-membership based website called ‘Ryan Leech Connection Online Mtn Bike Skills Coaching’ where Leech teaches a wide variety of mountain bike skills, along with mental and physical fitness training.
