Ruth Lawanson is one of the most popular and richest Volleyball Player who was born on September 27, 1963 in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. Lawanson, who is 5′ 8″ tall, was born in Ibadan (Oyo), Nigeria on September 27, 1963. In 1987, Lawanson graduated from Fresno State and received a business administration degree. She is a past member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association Board of Directors.

Lawanson was a member of the U.S. team for four years. With the team, she won bronze medals at the 1990 World Championships and 1991 World Cup as well as the 1992 Summer Olympics.

Lawanson was an assistant coach at Purdue University for four years, at Fresno State for six years, at the United States Air Force Academy for two years, and at the University of Nevada for one year. She was the head coach at Angelo State for three seasons in which she led the team to a 19-65 record. She was named the head coach of Nevada’s team in 2011. On November 26, 2014, she was relieved of her coaching duties at Nevada.

Lawanson was a member of the Major Volleyball League’s Dallas Belles, and Minnesota Monarchs between 1987 and 1989. In 1988, she was named league MVP. Later, she played in France and Italy from 1992 to 1995.

Ruth Modupe Lawanson, who was born September 27, 1963, was the head coach of University of Nevada’s volleyball team. She was born in Nigeria and played volleyball for Fresno State as well as the United States national team. In 1992, she won a bronze medal at Summer Olympics.

Lawanson was a Fresno State volleyball player and was the MVP of the team in 1982 and 1983. Her senior season in 1984 saw her lead the Bulldogs to fifth place at the NCAA tournament. She was also named NorPac coPlayer of Year and an All-American. She was also the 1984-85 Fresno State Female Athlete of the year. Lawanson is the first female student-athlete in school history to have her jersey number removed. Lawanson married Shawn Kenan in 2002. Divorced from Shawn Kenan in 2015. Her cousin, Foluke Akinradewo, also played for the U.S. national volleyball team.
