Ruth Jacott is one of the most popular and richest Singer who was born on September 2, 1960 in Paramaribo, Paramaribo District, Suriname. Ruth Jacott, a Dutch-Surinamese vocalist, was born 2 September 1960 in Paramaribo.

Soon after, her debut album in Dutch with Ruth Jacott was released. Paul de Leeuw had a huge hit in July with her duet “Blijf mij” (Stay With Me). During the Dutch Eurovision heat, she sang this song solo. Her second album, “Hou me vast”, (Hold me tight) was released in Spring 1994 and went double platinum on the Dutch market. She also collaborated with Rene Froger, Gerard Joling and Oscar Harris on albums. She was able to raise funds for UNICEF in Rwanda by releasing the charity single Buseruka with 3FM listeners.

The compilation album Altijd Dichtbij (Always close) was released in 1998 and contained a selection of five years of hits. She sang the theme song of a Dutch film Kruimeltje.

In 2000 she was operated on her vocal cords. Once recovered she embarked on a new theater-tour. Her album Vals verlangen (False desire) went gold and in October she performed at Amsterdam’s Carré Theater which was filmed by TV network RTL 4 and recorded for cd-release.

Jacott moved from musical theatre to popular song in 1993 when she represented the Netherlands at Eurovision Song Contest 1993. “Vrede”, her song (Peace) was one of the favourites to win and finished sixth out of 25 songs at Millstreet. Since then, she has released nine Dutch-language albums. Four of them reached the Top Ten on the Dutch music charts.

Jacott was awarded the Knokke Festival, Belgium in 1988. She was offered many opportunities to work in the music industry after this success. Her roles included key parts in the Dutch-language productions Cats and A Night at the Cotton Club. In February 1997 she was honored with a “Golden Harp” award. Two months later her album Hartslag (Heartbeat) was released. This also became a big success and she began another tour.

In 2008 Jacott played the title role in the musical Billie Holiday, about the legendary African American singer. Arrangements by Glenn Gaddum sr, he was also the musical director and pianist.
