Russ Rose is one of the most popular and richest Volleyball Player who was born on November 29, 1953 in Chicago, United States. Russell David Rose, born November 29, 1953, is an American author and professor. He is also a volleyball coach at Penn State University (1979-1999). His coaching record through the end of 2019 is 1299-212 (.860), ranking first in NCAA Division I history. He is the Penn State’s most successful and winning percentage intercollegiate coach.

He earned his master’s degree in 1978 at Nebraska. In that year, he was also the defensive coach for Cornhusker women. He led the second team to a 52-5 varsity record during his thesis on volleyball statistics.

In 1986, Rose married Lori Barberich, a former three-time All-American at Penn State. They are the parents of four sons, Jonathan, Michael, Christopher, and Nicholas.

In 1989, Rose was an assistant coach with the United States men’s national team for an exhibition series with Canada and the Soviet Union. His work on the international scene was to have continued in July of that year, but personal commitments and time constraints prevented him from accepting the position as head coach of the U.S. women’s team to the Maccabiah Games. In 1990, he worked with the men’s national and developmental teams during the training camps in San Diego. In 1993, he assisted with the U.S. men’s matches with Canada and the U.S. women’s team against China

Rose continued at George Williams as a part time coach after graduation. He helped the women’s volleyball team win 2 state titles and 6th in the national competition. Rose also helped the men’s volleyball team win the 1977 national championship.

Rose graduated from George Williams College on May 25, 1975. Rose was part of the school’s 1974 National Association of Intercollegiate athletics (NAIA), national champion volleyball team. He was the captain for the 1975 NAIA team that placed third.

Rose was a coach for professional men’s volleyball in Puerto Rico from 1976 to 1976.

In 1981, Rose coached the U.S. women’s team at the 1981 Maccabiah Games in which they won the silver medal. A year later, he was an assistant coach for the women’s team that won the bronze medal at the 1982 National Sports Festival. He returned to the National Sports Festival in 1983, this time as the East women’s head coach and once again winning the bronze medal. In 1985, he returned to the Maccabiah Games as the head coach of the U.S. men’s team, winning the bronze medal.
