Rune Klakegg is one of the most popular and richest Pianist who was born on January 30, 1958 in Skaun, Sør-Trøndelag, Norway. Rune Klakegg was born 19 April 1955 in Skien (Norway). He is a Norwegian jazz composer and pianist.
Klakegg’s Romantic Notions (2012), his debut as an acoustic trio pianist, features Jan Olav Renvag, bassist, and Roger Johansen drummer. It serves nine of their later compositions, which are played with a certain pianistic hand and eloquentimprovisations.
He also composed music for Jacob Sande’s texts, which was released on the album Sundslegen herja og nuken (2006), along with Lars Klevstrand and Bjorn Klakegg. Klakegg was a member of “Ovrevoll spelemannslag”, which included Ragnar Heyerdahl and Eilif Moe. They also reissued the album Spillegal (2006). Klakegg also contributed to an album with Tine Asmundsen band, Elin Odegaard 2000, Lars Martin Myhre (2006), and Guro Gravem Johansen trio, play in trio avec Jan Olav Renvag and Carl Stormer. He has also toured with Brit Bildoen. He was a member of the Quartet “Changes” with Roy Nikolaisen.

Klakegg composed and played in bands such as Cutting Edge, Fuzzy Logic, Fuzzy Logic and Out to Lunch. From 1986, he led the Rune Klakegg Trio with Frank Jakobsen (drums), and Olaf Kamfjord(bass) on Anaerobics (1991). They were later replaced by Edvard Nordbakken (drums) and Helge Norbakken (bass). He also played on the releases of Espen Rud and Morten Halle.
He was named “Work of the Year” in 1995 by “NOPA” for his song “Pamplemousse”. Klakegg was an editor of “Jazznytt”, (1984-1987) and has taught jazz piano at Foss videregaende Skole. He currently resides in Skien and teaches at Skien videregaende Schole.
