Ruben Faria is one of the most popular and richest Motorcycle Racer who was born on July 30, 1974 in Olhão, Faro District, Portugal. Ruben Faria, a Portuguese rally-raid rider and enduro biker was born in Olhao on 30 July 1974. He is best-known for his participation at the Dakar Rally where he finished second in 2013.

Faria, who will ride for Husqvarna sister company KTM, crashed out on Stage 6 and was forced to retire from the race due to injuries. He was a consultant to the team in 2017. However, he will be back in the race in 2018, following the footsteps of Stephane Peterhansel and Cyril Despres. Nani Roma were all Dakar motorcycle racers that switched to cars later in life. They were paired with Andre Villas Boas in a Toyota Hilux.

Faria had his best Dakar run to date, finishing second to Despres (11 minutes behind the winner), and his win on the final stage making it four. Faria was no longer a support role with KTM, and was forced to withdraw from the rally in 2014. He had been involved in a crash that left him three days late.

Faria’s Dakar Rally debut was in 2006. He won only his second stage in Portimao on a KTM motorcycle. Faria was unable to finish higher than 35th in the overall rally standings. He had won the first stage in Lisbon and was forced out of the race. Faria’s next participation was not until 2010. He would be making his debut for the KTM works team in 2010 as a “water-carrier” (support rider for Cyril Despres), where he won another stage to secure an 11th place finish. Faria finished eighth overall in 2011, his first top-ten placing. However, he did not win any stages and was 12th overall in 2012.

Faria won the Dakar Rally in 2007 and the PAX Rally in Portugal (in 2008), both part of the Dakar Series.
