Lawrence competes in C1 and K1 events. She has been a member since 2009 of the Australian national canoe/kayak club. She was part of the Australian junior national team from 2004 to 2006. In 2007 and 2012, she competed in the Australian Under 23 team. Lawrence is a recipient of a scholarship from the Australian Institute of Sport and the New South Wales Institute of Sport. She races domestically for the Big River Canoe Club.

Lawrence also won the Sickline Extreme race in 2012 and the Wildwater World Championship in C1W in 2011.
