Rona Nishliu is one of the most popular and richest Singer who was born on August 25, 1986 in Mitrovica, Kosovo. Rona Nishliu, a Kosovar singer/songwriter from Albania was born 25 August 1986. After representing Albania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012, Baku, Azerbaijan where she placed fifth, Nishliu rose to international fame. This was the highest placement for Albania.
After winning the national selection 29 December 2011, Nishliu’s entry “Suus” won the national selection, Nishliu represented Albania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 Baku, Azerbaijan. Nishliu is the first Albanian singer to compete in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012. Due to the Qafa e Vishes tragedy, RTSH delayed the first semi-final for more than two hours on May 22. This resulted in low ratings for Nishliu. Nishliu was not affected by the delay. She received second place in semi-finals and advanced to finals. Albania used its jury votes for 17 countries in the semi final. It used the jury votes again on May 26. RTK did not broadcast highlights from the first semifinal because of the bus accident. With 146 points, she won fifth place in final; Albania’s highest result to date. On 12 January 2012, she became an Albanian citizen.
Nishliu is known for her humanitarian spirit. She participated in many humanitarian concerts for those in need. As a student, Nishliu organized a few Humanitarian Concerts. One of these was to aid the poorest families in Kosovo, the Kosovo Albanian displaced families of Mitrovica. She was a guest lecturer at UNDP Kosovo’s 2009 activity on Awareness Raising about the Importance Volunteerism for Youngsters in Vushtrri. She is an activist for the National Association of Autism in Kosovo and is the Chairperson of Institute for Sustainability and Development of Youth in Kosovo.

Rona Nishliu was born in Mitrovica and moved to Pristina with her family at thirteen to escape the political turmoil in her hometown. She entered “Ethet e se premtes mbrema”, a show similar to Idols, in 2004. She passed the first round and was invited to the live shows. She finished Top 5. She was a presenter at Radio Blue Sky Prishtina after the show.
Rona teamed with Vesa Luma, Teuta Kurti and entered the Festivali i Kenges 43rd Edition in 2005 for a chance at representing Albania in the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest. They were all qualified to compete in the final night on December 18, 2005, but lost to Ledina celo, who was declared the winner. Even though the song was not a Pop-Dance hit, it became a huge radio hit.
On 18 September 2014, Rona Nishliu held a concert in Belgrade, Serbia to promote the Kosovar culture, part of the “Mirëdita, dobar dan” festival. She received a standing ovation from the public.
