Roman Petrovych Bezsmertnyi, Ukrainian politician (Ukrainian name Roman Petrovich Bezsmertnii; born 15th November 1965 in Makariv Raion, Kiev Oblast, Soviet Union), is the former Ambassador of Ukraine, Belarus to Ukraine. In 2005, Bezsmertnyi was also the former Deputy Prime Minister for Ukraine. He is responsible for administrative as well as territorial reform.
Bezsmertny quit the “Our Ukraine” party on February 19, 2008. Bezsmertny, together with people’s deputies MykhayloPolyanchych and Ihor Kryl and Viktor Topolov, Oksana Birozir, Oksana Belozir, Vasyl Petevka, made a joint statement stating that “some of the party leaders play their own games, coming from personal interest and it has absolutely nothing to do the responsibility, pluralism and norms for democracy.”
From February 24, 2010 till June 3, 2011 Bezsmertnyi was Ambassador of Ukraine to Belarus.
In July 2014, he became the party leader of Third Ukrainian Republic.
2005: Bezsmertnyi served as Deputy Prime Minister for Ukraine and was responsible for territorial and administrative reform in the Tymoshenko government.

Bezsmertnyi graduated from Kiev University and became a teacher of school history in Makariv. He switched to politics soon after Ukraine gained independence. He became a member of the Ukrainian Republican Party’s parliament in 1994. He left the party in 1994, but he continued his career as an MP. He was a member the parliamentary Committee for State Development and Local Self-Governance from 2002 to 2006.
Bezsmertnyi was a leader of the 2004 Orange Revolution. Bezsmertnyi was elected the chief organizer of the People’s Union “Our Ukraine”, following the victory of Viktor Yuschenko in the 2004 presidential elections. Yuschenko is the formal chair of “Our Ukraine”, so Bezsmertnyi was elected Head of the party’s Political Council and became its factual leader.
In mid-April 2009, he rejoined the People’s Union “Our Ukraine”, stating: “To be acting head of the executive committee and not to be a member of the party is not right in relation to the people I am working with”.
