Roland McGhee, born October 15, 1971, is an American long jumper. His personal record of 8.51m (27 feet 11 inches) places him among the top 25 all-time for the event. He was twice a national champ, winning both indoors and outdoors in 1998. He represented his country in the 1995 World Championships in Athletics as well as 1999 IAAF World Indoor Championships. He was also a sprinter and won bronze in the relay at 1994 IAAF World Cup.

McGhee made an international debut for the United States in 1994 at the IAAF World Cup. He was a team with Sam Jefferson, Marcel Carter, Mark Witherspoon and Marcel Carter and finished third in the 4 x 100 meter relay, behind the BRitish, African and BRitish teams. He was the only person to finish on an international podium in his career. After Carl Lewis withdrew from the 1995 World Championships in Athletics Long Jump, he qualified but did not record a valid mark due to a groin strain. He did not reach eight meters at the 1998 IAAF World Cup nor the 1999 IAAF World Indoor Championships, and was not even close to winning a medal.

He was the Long Jump Runner-up at National Collegiate Athletic Association’s (NCAA) level at Middle Tennessee on three occasions. He also placed second at the 1993 NCAA Indoor Championships as well as the 1992 and 1994 NCAA Outdoors. Erick Walder received the award each time. In the span of 1990-1994, he was awarded nine NCAA All-America honors. He won the Ohio Valley Conference long jump and 100-meter sprint regional titles, and also three triple jump titles and two 200-meter dash titles. Later, he was inducted into The Blue Raiders Hall of Fame.

McGhee was an international professional track circuit regular in the late 1990s. McGhee was a finalist in the IAAF Grand Prix Final in 1997, 1999 and 1995. His career high was at lower levels of competition. He was sporadic in major competitions, frequently adjusting his run up approach and often did not perform well. He did not record a valid mark at the 1996 United States Olympic Trials and was tenth at the 1997 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. He secured national titles at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships and USA Indoor Track and Field Championships in 1998. This was the last time he broke eight meters at the competition, however, as he was fourth at the national championships in 1999 and 2002 and seventh at the 2000 United States Olympic Trials.
