Roland Grapow is one of the most popular and richest Guitarist who was born on August 30, 1959 in Hamburg, Germany. Roland Grapow, born 30 August 1959 in Hamburg (Germany), is a professional guitarist. He also produces music. Grapow is most well-known for his 12 year stint in Helloween’s power metal band. He replaced Kai Hansen as founding member. In 2001, he created Masterplan, a power metal band that is still in existence today.

Grapow currently resides in Zvolenska slatina, Slovakia where he is a music producer at his studio. He mixed the album Motherland in 2011 for Daedalus, an Italian progressive metal band. He also played the solo guitar on Underground. He was also the producer of Czech metalcore band X-Core’s album “In Hell” and their latest “Life and stuff”. Another Czech power metal band, Eagleheart, recorded their second album, “Dreamtherapy”, for Scarlet Records. Grapow produced, mixed, masters, and guest vocals as well as guitar solos. He was also responsible for the production of Anthology, a Slovak symphonic band that produces symphonic music. He collaborated on Tony Hernando’s solo album “Actual Events” with Mike Terrana, a drummer. This led him to produce the albums “Secretos y revelaciones”, “Nemesis” (2012) and “Secretos y revelaciones”, which were both produced by Spanish Metal band Saratoga. Roland Grapow is still collaborating with Tony Hernando as Co-Producer of the new band, Lords Of Black. This new band was formed in 2014 by Ronnie Romero, a vocal sensation. Frontier Music will release a new album entitled “II”.

I felt very secure in Helloween. In the middle of the tour I said something to Michael and Markus and I said my opinion about something. I wanted to make something the best for the band and I think they misunderstood me, like I wanted to be leader. I was telling the truth and that’s how I am… It was a great time in Helloween… but I was happy when I left the band after the Dark Ride because it’s one of my favourite albums, it totally changed my life.

Grapow, Kusch and former Ark and The Snakes singer Jorn Lände decided to continue with their side project and form Masterplan. Grapow was made the main songwriter and leader of Masterplan in 2006 after Kusch had left the band.

Grapow was previously a member Rampage’s heavy metal band before joining Helloween. Grapow joined the band around 1979 and was a member of Rampage’s heavy metal band Rampage. He also played on two studio albums, Victim Of Rock (1980) and Love Lights Up The Night (1982). In 1983, he left Rampage. He was inactive musically at the time and worked as a mechanic until Michael Weikath offered him a job in Helloween in 1990. Grapow stated that “If Weiki hadn’t called me at that point, I would still have been a car mechanic, and I’d still be in pain and heavy bones, still working on cars, and dreaming about the hobby I had long ago, which was being a musician.”

Grapow and Uli Kusch, Grapow’s bandmate, were fired by Helloween in 2001 because of their differences musically and personally. Grapow said the following in 2012 during an interview with Metal Shock Finland Chief Editor Mohsen Fayyazi.

In 2017, Grapow joined Czech band Kreyson as their guitar player. In 2019, he announced the departure from the band.
