Rohitha Bogollagama is one of the most popular and richest Diplomat who was born on August 6, 1954 in Sri Lanka. Chandrasekera Rohitha Bandara Bogollagama, born 6 August 1954 (known as Rohitha Bogollagama in Sinhala). (Sinhala Tamil: roohit boogollaagm; Tamil: rookit okoollaakm ), is a former Governor of Eastern Province and a Sri Lankan politician. He was the ex-chief organiser of the Kotte Electorate Sri Lanka Freedom Party. From 28 January 2007, he served as Cabinet Minister of Foreign Affairs until he lost his seat in parliament. His long legal career spanned from 1976 to 1999. He was then elected to the Sri Lankan Parliament in 2000 by the United National Party.
Bogollagama changed political allegiances on 18 November 2004 and sided with the United People’s Freedom Alliance. The President then swore Bogollagama in as the Cabinet Secretary of Advanced Technology National Enterprise Development.
He became the Minister of Enterprise and Development on 23 November 2005. As Minister, he argued in favour of returning Sri Lanka to GMT +05:30 time, which was the official time before 1996. He represented the government of Sri Lanka at two rounds of peace talks with the LTTE at Geneva in 2006.
He was defeated in the General Elections held on 8 April 2010, losing his seat in parliament and was not reappointed the cabinet.
Bogollagama, a member the United National Party, was elected to the Kurunegala District Parliamentary Consultative Committees. He also served as the Parliamentary Consultative Committees for Finance, Foreign Affairs, Defence, Industrial Development & Investment Promotion, Power & Energy. Ranil Wickremesinghe, the Prime Minister, appointed Bogollagama Minister of Industries on 12 December 2001. In 2002, he was appointed minister to the “Yuga Dekma”, an industrial fair. President Chandrika Kumaratunga disbanded parliament in 2004 and removed ministers who were not part of the cabinet on 12 February.

He was born in Nikaweratiya to Chandrasekera Malala Banda Bogollagama, former Chairman of the National Lotterys Board 1966-1970) and Vinitha Bogollagama (nee Senerath). He is one of their five children. Bogollagama graduated from the Sri Lanka Law College in 1976 after attending Ananda College in Colombo. In October 1976, he was admitted to the Bar and was enrolled by the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka as an Attorney-at-Law.
Bogollagama was a lawyer for almost thirty years. He served as a legal consultant to Ceylon Fertiliser Corporation (1985-1993) and as a legal advisor to Voice of America (1991-1999). He was also the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Cement Corporation, and the Chairman and Director General of The Board of Investment of Sri Lanka.
While in opposition in 2004, he was appointed by a unanimous decision to serve as the Chairman of the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE), an oversight committee of parliament responsible for accountability of public enterprises.
