On June 28, 1995, Rogers was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers, with draft rights to guard Brent Barry, for the draft rights to forward Antonio McDyess and guard Randy Woods. He spent four years with the Clippers.

Rogers was a graduate of Hillside High School, Durham. Rogers was known as the “Durham Bull” for his athletic achievements. He was a Greensboro News & Record All-State two-time selection and was the 1990 North Carolina State Player of the Year. He averaged 22.5 points, 9.7 rebounds and 28.3 points per game in junior. His senior year saw him average 28.3 points, 12.3 rebounds and a team of 27-2 that advanced to the quarterfinals at the state 4-A playoffs. He was named McDonald’s All-American, scoring 17 points.
