He graduated in 1988 from the New School for Social Research, New York, United States with a Master’s degree in Economics. He went back to the Ateneo de Manila in order to receive a Bachelor of Sacred Theology degree from the Loyola School of Theology. The degree was awarded to him in 1992 summa cum laude. He was also a graduate of the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, Cambridge, United States. In 1995, he received a Master of Policy degree. He received his Ph.D. from University College London in 2002.
Roberto C. Yap, S.J. He is also known as Father Bobby, a Filipino economist and Jesuit. He currently serves as president of Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan. He succeeded Fr. Jose Ramon Villarin, S.J. as president of Xavier Ateneo, when the latter was elected president at the Ateneo de Manila University.
2011 was his first term as president of Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan. He is also a member the Ateneo de Davao University’s board of trustees, Ateneo de Manila University and Ateneo de Zamboanga University’s board of trustees.
