Cocco began to focus more on professional boxing after losing to Alexander Dredhaj, a former rival in kickboxing, when SuperLeague was closed down. He would fight in several boxing matches in Italy before he finally fought for the vacant W.B.C. He lost a decision against Nikola Sjekloca for the Mediterranean title. He has not been able to duplicate his success on kickboxing, and he was unsuccessful in his two previous fights for the Italian title, losing three times in 2008 and 2010. Cocco returned to European kickboxing action, and in between boxing, he managed to win against Thomas Hladky, multiple Muaythai world champion Rayen SIMSON, to claim the Kings of Kickboxing Munich title, but lost to Jiri Zak, Yohan Lidon and Dmitry Shakuta.
He lost a unanimous decision to Karapet Karapetyan at Glory 7: Milan in Milan, Italy on April 20, 2013.
He became W.K.N. Super Middleweight Oriental Rules Intercontinental Kickboxing Champion, facing Yoann Kongolo at Thai Boxe Mania in Turin, Italy on January 25, 2014, winning by judges split decision.
Roberto became a world champion and was able to win more honors. He defeated Stephan Mbida to take the W.P.K.C. intercontinental belt and then to Sao Paulo Brazil to unify I.S.K.A. U.W.K.F. the world titles. Cocco would defend the I.S.K.A. throughout 2003. Cocco would defend his I.S.K.A. belt again and win the W.K.N. Carlos Heredia was defeated once more to win the world title. This time, it took only one round, rather than twelve. It was a TKO victory.

Roberto began martial arts training at the age of six in Turin, his hometown. Although he started with Judo, he soon moved to kickboxing, despite his parents trying to discourage him. He attended many competitions in full- contact kickboxing and boxing, winning the amateur title in Italy. He began to learn Thai-boxing from Marco Franza in 1995 and became a pro shortly thereafter. Roberto was able to win his first major title in 2001 after a string of wins on the French scene and across the border in France. Carlos Heredia was his opponent for the I.S.K.A. He won the world title by winning after twelve rounds. This was something Cocco wasn’t used to as he had often faced opponents for three to five rounds.
He signed with the newly created SuperLeague in 2003. In his first organizational appearance in Vienna, he defeated Foad Sadeghi via knockout. Roberto was likely to face stiffer competition from many of his European and world champions who had plenty of fight experience by joining the promotion. This proved costly when he lost to Joerie Mes in his SuperLeague match. Roberto’s losing record with SuperLeague was from 2003 to 2006. He had wins against Foad Sadeghi, Moises Baptista de Sousa, but was also plagued by defeats. His overall record ended with a record of 2 and 7. Roberto Castro was defeated in 2005 to win the W.A.K.O. He lost to Yury Bessmertny by TKO due to a cut at Thai Boxe Mania in Turin, Italy on November 24, 2012. Even though the cut was caused by an accidental headbutt, Bessmertny was given the win rather than the bout being made a no contest.
