Robert Finn is one of the most popular and richest Catholic Priest who was born on April 2, 1953 in St. Louis, United States. Finn was the second child of five children, Theodore (Pat), and Betty Schneider Finn, born in St. Louis on April 2, 1953. Three sisters, Kathleen Fornwalt, Chesterfield (Missouri); Patricia Bax St. Charles, Missouri; Nancy Meyer, Maryland Heights (Missouri) make up his family. One brother is Richard Finn from Keller, Texas.
Finn was awarded a Master’s degree in Education Administration by Saint Louis University in 1989. He was then appointed to the role of administrator at St. Dominic High School, O’Fallon. He assisted pastors in the area parishes during his time at St. Dominic’s. He was a member of the St. Dominic High school community from 1996 to 1996.
Finn was named by Pope John Paul II a chaplain to His Holiness in August 2003, upon the recommendation of the Archbishop of St. Louis, Justin Francis Rigali, who had named him to the posts he was then exercising (the honor was bestowed while he was still serving as CFP Director and editor of the St. Louis Review; Finn received the title of Reverend Monsignor). Finn served in several other capacities including chairman of the Archdiocesan Committee on the Diaconate.
Finn was named coadjutor bishop (with right of succession) of the diocese of Kansas City-Saint Joseph and was consecrated on May 3, 2004, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Kansas City. He is also now a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. On May 24, 2005, the Vatican accepted Bishop Boland’s request for retirement. As Coadjutor, Bishop Finn automatically succeeded him as sixth bishop of the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph.
Finn was first assigned as an associate pastor to two parishes within the Archdiocese Saint Louis. Later, he was elected to the faculty at Saint Francis Borgia Regional School in Washington, Missouri. He taught there from 1983 to 1989. He lived in residence during those years and was a part-time pastor’s associate in local parishes.

Robert William Finn, born April 2, 1953, is an American bishop in the Roman Catholic Church. He was the former bishop of Kansas City-Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Diocese. He served there from May 24, 2005 until April 21, 2015, when he was forced to resign. Finn was the U.S. bishop who was convicted for failing to report a priest suspected in child sex abuse to the authorities.
Finn finished his elementary education at All Souls Catholic School, Overland (Missouri). He was ordained to the priesthood in Rome and archdiocesan seminaries. He graduated from St. Louis Preparatory Seminary North in 1971 and earned a B.A. He received a B.A. in Philosophy from Cardinal Glennon College in 1976. He was a Pontifical North American College seminarian in Rome. In 1979, he received a Master’s degree in Theology from Angelicum University. In the Archdiocese of Westminster, he was a deacon from 1978 to 1979 at Saint Charles Borromeo Parish. On July 7, 1979, he was ordained as a priest in the Archdiocese of Saint Louis.
In 1996, he was appointed Director of Continuing Formation of Priests and, in 1999, while continuing as CFP Director, he was named editor of the St. Louis Review, the weekly newspaper of the Archdiocese of Saint Louis.

On October 14, 2011, a county grand jury indicted both the Diocese and Finn personally for failure to report suspected child abuse, a criminal misdemeanor. While other bishops had been charged with directly perpetrating abuse, Finn was the first U.S. bishop to be charged in his role as a supervisor of priests, the first criminal case against a sitting bishop in the child sex abuse scandal in the Catholic Church. Finn was convicted on one charge in September 2012 and sentenced to two years of probation. All charges against the Diocese itself were dropped.
