Rick Thornberry is one of the most popular and richest Boxer who was born on February 17, 1968 in Gatton, Australia. Rick Thornberry, an Australian ex-professional boxer, was born 17 February 1968. He competed in the Australian ring from 1985 to 2002. He was the IBO super-middleweight champion in 1995. He also challenged for two major world championships: the WBO super-middleweight title and the IBF super midweight title in 2002.

Thornberry’s last fight was at the end 2002 when he suffered a late stoppage loss against future WBA World Champion Anthony Mundine.

Thornberry, now the WBO number 1 contender, traveled to Wales in June 1999 to challenge Joe Calzaghe for his WBO World Super Middleweight Title. Calzaghe was expected out of the fight in the first round, but he suffered a hand injury during the third round. Thornberry survived the entire fight and lost a close decision.
