Richard Anthony Cunningham, born August 18, 1970, is an American football placekicker who played in the National Football League for both the Dallas Cowboys and the Carolina Panthers. He played college football for the University of Louisiana-Lafayette.
He set a franchise record for a 54-yard field kick in 1998. He also made 29 of 35 field goals, which was third in club history. After he went 12 for 22 in his field goals attempts, the Cowboys released him twelve games into 1999.
He signed in 2001 with the Cincinnati Bengals, but couldn’t make the team over Neil Rackers.
Cunningham last season was in 2002, appearing in one game for the Jacksonville Jaguars. He finished with 84 for 105 field goal attempts, which at the time, his 80 percent rate was tied for 27th all-time in a career.
He made his NFL debut in 1997 and was an All-Pro kicker. He made 34 of 37 field goal attempts and was the NFL’s leading field goal attempt maker. This set the club record for field goals made. It also placed him second among rookies in league history. He also ranked second in the NFL for field goal percentage (also a team-record). He was 24 for 24, plus 24 extra points.

Cunningham signed in 1994 as an undrafted agent by the Dallas Cowboys, but was later released at the close of training camp after Chris Boniol beat him out.
